The QuNET initiative timetable
The gradual expansion of the interdisciplinary “QuNET ecosystem” is planned for the implementation of the QuNET initiative. Partners from science, industry and public institutions will be actively involved. The aim is to achieve a common, fundamental understanding among all stakeholders and to promote a common language.
QuNET has been continuously producing new results since the end of 2019. Building on the knowledge gained so far, the focus is now on enabling secure point-to-point quantum key distribution. The focus here is on the development and optimisation of critical components and relevant technologies. The first quantum-encrypted video conference between two federal authorities was demonstrated in August 2021. Since then, the focus has increasingly been on developing technologies for multi-user quantum networks (multi-user networks).
